It's Your Planet - Love It
Girls are being exposed to ideas and discussions on the environment every day and everywhere. Girl Scouts journeys are packed with the latest research and girl-relevant environmental thinking and offer adults a way to interact with girls on topics of great importance in their lives. In this journey series, girls at each grade level have an opportunity to learn about grade-appropriate environmental issues such as clean water and air, noise pollution, global warming, soil contamination, and agricultural processes.
It's Your Planet - Love It! books:
Girl Scout Daisies - Between Earth and Sky: Girl Scout Daisies join their flower friends for a cross-country road trip in their special flower-powered car! As they travel the country living the values of the Girl Scout Law, the flowers explore the natural world around them, learning what's local and why that's important.
Girl Scout Brownies - WOW! Wonders of Water: The Brownie friends and Brownie ELF enjoy some wonder-filled adventures as they invite the real-life Brownies to explore the Wonders of Water. As they dive in, the Brownies realize they can create another big WOW as they try out new Ways of Working as a team.
Girl Scout Juniors - Get Moving!: Juniors build their skills as leaders who Energize, Investigate, and Innovate. Dez, the fashionista spider, is also back to add some wit to the journey as she tries to figure out life "off the grid." "How does this carbon footprint thing work?" she asks. "Do I get eight?"
Girl Scout Cadettes - Breathe: Cadettes engage all five senses as they clear the air—their own and Earth's. Girls learn to assess air quality inside and out, getting an aerial view of everything from cigarette smoking to noise in the air to deforestation.
Girl Scout Seniors - Sow What?: Seniors investigate the food network (no not cable TV—the real one that gets each piece of food to the table). As they ponder the dirt on land use around the world (corn's a big issue!), girls get down to the science and roots of complex and global food issues.
Girl Scout Ambassadors - Justice: We all know what justice is. Why is it so hard to achieve? Ambassadors realize that maybe justice needs a brand-new equation—their equation. By "Doing the Math" with even the simplest of acts, deciphering how decisions get made, and exploring how to use scientific evidence, Ambassadors will create and then present their own unique equation for what justice asks of us.
