Summer Day Camp Life
General Information

Our summer day camp fees cover all direct services the camper receives including activity supplies, T-shirt (one per camper), unit photo, health and accident insurance and transportation.  Additional optional services are available (see below for details). See the Camp Brochure for specific fees.

Transportation

Arriving & Departing by Bus: Bus transportation to and from camp is included in the camp fee. Each bus is staffed by a chaperone, who greets and releases campers to their parent/guardian. Bus stops are centralized and designed to serve as many girls as possible in the area. Bus selection is to be made at the time of registration. Please consult the Bus Route Schedule found in the camp brochure.

Arriving & Departing by Car: Campers driven to camp should arrive between 8:30 and 8:45 a.m. and be picked up at 3:35 p.m. These times apply unless extended care arrangements are made in advance with registration.  Select Parent Transport during online registration to drive your camper to and from camp.

Free to All Campers

Every camper will receive one free Jockey Hollow Day Camp T-shirt. It should be worn every Monday that she attends a new session to be ready for her unit photo. Each camper will also receive a free Unit Picture for each session that she attends to help her remember friends she made at camp.

Camp Unit & Buddies

Girls like to make new friends at camp, but if they need to be with a particular friend, we will try to accommodate a request to be placed with a buddy. Campers are assigned to camp units based on grade level and stay with their unit for the session. Girls wishing to be buddies cannot be more than a grade apart and must be in the same program. Only one buddy can be requested and it must be reciprocal on the buddy’s registration.

Special Needs

Girls having special healthcare needs including physical, mental, or behavioral disabilities are welcome, providing we are able to accommodate their needs. A majority of the camp is handicap accessible. Feel free to contact Mary-Ann Lewis, Camp Director, at 973-248-8200 to discuss your camper’s needs.

Programs Just for Teens

Girls entering grades 6 to 9 have the option of participating in General Camp or Teen programs. The teen programs include swimming, Low Ropes Challenge Course, environmental programs, and cookouts, as well as specialized activities. Select a program according to your camper's interests. Teen programs sometimes include special teen-only overnights.

Optional Services

The following services are offered by Jockey Hollow for an additional fee.  See the camp brochure for related fees.

PM Care: Extend the camp day for your child with our aftercare program held on site. Activities facilitated by camp staff include crafts, games and a healthy snack. The program runs until 6 p.m. Campers need to be picked up at camp.

Lunch Program: An optional cold lunch program is provided by Simply Gourmet, an independent food service company. Simply Gourmet offers “kid-friendly” nutritious, nut-free meals delivered daily and individually packaged with the camper’s name. Participate by going to www.simplygourmetlunches.com.

Overnights: For girls entering grades 3-9. Experience camp life after the sun goes down, while preparing dinner over an open fire and breakfast the next morning. Enjoy extra free swim time and a campfire sing along! Sleep in cabins and listen to the hoot of an owl as it lulls you to sleep.
