Goal Getters

Bring a Friend

Know a friend who would love Girl Scout camp and has never attended before? Refer her to camp and you could earn free camp swag! Just follow these steps:

  • Invite a brand new camper to join this summer at either Jockey Hollow Day Camp or Lake Rickabear Day Camp. She doesn’t need to be a current Girl Scout or even register for the same sessions at camp.
  • Tell us about your friend and if she attends camp this summer, you’ll receive some camp SWAG (camp merchandise) valued at $20.
  • Bring a friend incentives are unlimited, so you can refer as many new friends as you'd like.

Jockey Hollow Day Camp Sessions

At Jockey Hollow Day Camp in Mendham, New Jersey, there are 212 pristine acres to explore and enjoy. With a large "L"-shaped swimming pool, Low Ropes Challenge Course and Zip Line, beautiful equestrian center, archery range, playing field, and adventurous hiking trails, the fun is endless. Session 1 (July 5-9)
Program Description

Jockey Hollow Summer Fun

Session 1

Gr 1-9

Fee: $350

 

Join us for a jam-packed week of exciting activities! Cool off in our beautiful pool each day (weather permitting) during your combined swim lesson and free swim period. Learn crazy camp songs, play field games, and get creative during arts & crafts. Strengthen your self-esteem and practice teamwork at the Low Ropes Challenge Course. Explore the Jockey Hollow forest with the Environmental Education Specialist and work on badges. Girls in 2nd grade and up can try their hand at archery and girls in 4th grade and up can take a ride on the zipline. Other Jockey Hollow Summer Fun activities may include playing in our GaGa pit, hiking the trails, stream exploration, playing a game of 9 Square in the Air and Crossnet, participating in camp-wide service projects, and so much more. Weekly theme activities make each session unique. Themes are announced on the first day of each session. Girls will be grouped in units of 12-18 girls according to grade level. New fun and friendships await you at camp this summer! 

Pony Pals

Gr 1-3

Giddy up! Hang out at the horse corral for 1 1/2 hours each day (weather permitting), Tuesday through Friday, learning horsemanship basics from trained professionals in a safe, non-threatening environment. This hands-on program will teach you about grooming, leading, and basic care of your pony. Mount up for basic riding in the ring or hand-walking on trails (weather permitting). Spend the remainder of each day participating in the great Jockey Hollow Summer Fun activities. Monday is a regular Jockey Hollow Summer Fun day.

Horsemanship

Gr 4-8

Fee: $525

Fulfill your love of horses at Jockey Hollow’s corral this summer! Spend 2 fun-filled hours a day (weather permitting), Tuesday through Friday, at the corral grooming, tacking, and learning trail etiquette. Saddle up for a daily 20-30 minute riding session or enjoy a trail ride through our majestic woodlands (weather permitting). Fill the remainder of each day participating in some of the Jockey Hollow Summer Fun activities. Monday is a regular Jockey Hollow Summer Fun day.

Super Girls

Gr 4-5

Fee: $380

Join us for this fun, challenging and engaging self defense week! Build your confidence while learning important life skills and self defense strategies and techniques by participating in Kickboxing, Krav Maga, and more.

Creative Comics

Gr 6-9

Fee: $380

Get your imagination ready to create! We will explore what it means to be an artist and how women of the comic world are making a name for themselves. Learn the behind the scenes process from finding inspiration to storyboarding and illustrating your first comic. You’ll come away from this crash course in art with excitement, knowledge and your Comic Artist Badge.

Counselor in Training

(2 week session)

Gr 9-10

(must be 14 yrs old as of 7/5/21)

Fee: $500

 

Are you ready to step out of the camper role and begin your journey toward being a camp counselor? Girls entering grades 9 and 10 (and who are 14 yrs. old as of 7/5/21) can register for this two-week leadership training program. During the first week, you will develop skills needed to mentor younger girls and understand their needs in a camp setting. During the second week, use your newly acquired skills under the guidance of camp counselors in the unit. Upon completion of the program, you are encouraged to volunteer for one or more weeks during the remainder of the camp season (you can let us know during the program what weeks you would like to return to volunteer). Receive an exclusive CIT shirt to tie dye and at the end of the two week session, you will earn a certificate and your CIT pin. 

Counselor in Training II

(2 week session)

Gr 10-11

(pre-requisite: completion of CIT during summer 2019)

Fee: $500

Now that you have completed the Counselor in Training program, you can continue to build your camp counselor skills during this two-week session.  During the first week, learn what goes on behind the scenes that allows camp to run safely and efficiently. Focus on conflict management, leadership skills, unit planning and more during this leadership development experience. Use your newly acquired skills under the guidance of camp counselors in the units during the second week. Upon completion of the program, you are encouraged to volunteer for one or more weeks during the remainder of camp (you can let us know during the program what weeks you would like to return to volunteer). Receive an exclusive CIT II shirt to tie dye and at the end of the two week session, you will earn a certificate and your CIT II pin.

Only girls who complete this training and are 16 years old by 7/19/21 will be considered for hire as a paid Junior Counselor for the remainder of the summer. Must be available for sessions 3-7.

Session 2 (July 12-16)

Tie Dye with a Twist

Gr 6-9

Fee: $380

Do you enjoy tie dying? Come and learn new tie dying techniques that you’ve never used before such as reverse dying, glow in the dark, and natural dying. You will go home at the end of the session with unique and unusual tie dye items! 

Counselor in Training

(2 week session)

Gr 9-10

Are you ready to step out of the camper role and begin your journey toward being a camp counselor? Girls entering grades 9 and 10 (and who are 14 yrs. old as of 7/5/21) can register for this two-week leadership training program. Build, Burn & Beyond

(2 week session)

Gr 6-9

Fee: $750

Swing a hammer, use a screwdriver, and work with a level. Under the guidance of our Camp Ranger and an experienced wood burner, you will learn how to use basic tools and wood burning equipment. Practice your newly acquired carpentry and wood burning skills by making two projects to bring home with you and participating in a group service project. No experience is needed. 

CIT Fast Track

Gr 10

Having the crew over and need ideas for munchies? Learn from a professional in the food industry how to whip up great party pleasers.  Create dips, canapés, hot and cold appetizers, mini desserts and pastries.  Come hungry! Taste testing is essential as you sample all your creations.

Do you enjoying eating while traveling around New York City? Join us for this food tour around NYC without even leaving camp! Make and sample food from Chinatown, Little Italy, Brooklyn and the Upper East Side. 

All About YOU!

Gr 6-9

Fee: $380

Take care of yourself by eating healthy, exercising, unwinding and more! During this session you will have the opportunity to participate in Zumba, make your own spa treatments such as scrubs and bath salts, relax during yoga and enjoy fresh fruit smoothies.

   

Lake Rickabear Day Camp Sessions

At Lake Rickabear Day Camp in Kinnelon, New Jersey, our 332 acres include a beautiful 40-acre, spring-fed lake, perfect for pedal-boating and rowboating. A long stretch of soft, sandy beach lines our swimming area.  Learn more about our camp facilities.

Pony Pros

Pony Pros is the perfect introduction to the world of horses. You will spend 1.5 hours at the horse corral each day (weather permitting, Tuesday through Friday), including a 15-minute riding lesson. You'll also learn about grooming, leading, and basic pony care through hands-on rotational stations. During the rest of the week, you’ll have a traditional camp experience where you’ll do arts and crafts, visit our camp naturalist, work on your team work at our challenge course, and swim in our beautiful lake.

As an Equestrian Adventures camper, you will spend two hours at the horse corral each day (weather permitting, Tuesday through Friday, including a daily 20-minute riding lesson. You'll also learn about grooming, tacking, barn management, and careers in the industry as you earn the Girl Scout Junior Horseback Riding badge. During the rest of your week, you will swim each day and visit each of the camp specialty areas once---archery, challenge course, arts, and crafts, and nature.

Eco-Explorer

Gr 8-12

This week of camp is designed for girls who want to make a difference. During a special presentation, you’ll meet an eco-explorer, see endangered animals up close, and learn about the challenges they face in the wild. Then as a unit, you’ll pick a conservation issue to learn more about and research solutions so YOU can take action. And of course you’ll enjoy all the summer camp fun that Lake Rickabear has to offer- archery, zip line, arts and crafts, nature, daily swimming, friendship, and fun!

Counselor in Training 2

Gr 10-11

Fee: $500

After completion of the CIT program, you will continue to build camp counselor skills during this two week session. During the first week, learn what goes on behind the scenes that allow camp to run safely and efficiently. Use your newly aquired skills under the guidance of camp counselors in the units the second week. At the end of the 2 week training program, you will earn the  CIT 2 pin. You'll receive an exclsuive CIT 2 shirt to die dye. Only girls who complete this training and are 16 years old by 7/19/2021 are considered for employment as a paid Junior Counselor for the duration of the summer 2021. Paid Junior Counselors must work all remaining five camp sessions.

As a Teen camper, you’ll spend some extra time enjoying Lake Rickabear’s beauty this week! You’ll earn your Girl Scout Paddling badge while you learn about paddling equipment, techniques, and safety. Plus you’ll spend two hours with a certified paddling instructor while kayaking and Stand Up Paddle Boarding right on Lake Rickabear. And, of course you’ll enjoy all the summer camp fun that Lake Rickabear has to offer--archery, zip line, arts and crafts, nature, daily swimming, friendship, and fun! 

Counselor in Training 2

Gr 10-11

(pre-requisite: completion of CIT during 2019)

Fee: $500

After completion of the CIT program, you will continue to build camp counselor skills during this two week session. You’ll learn to see nature through an artist’s eye as you find ways to express yourself through photography, music, and more. As a special treat, you’ll spend two hours studying, sketching, and watercolor painting “en plein air” with a trained artist. And of course you’ll enjoy all the summer camp fun that Lake Rickabear has to offer- archery, zip line, boating, daily swimming, friendship, and fun!

As a Plus camper, you will enjoy all that Fun in the Sun has to offer PLUS you’ll get to paint a beautiful natural scene on canvas. You can reveal your inner Van Gough as a professional artist teaches you brush strokes and color mixing techniques.

If you are ready to step out of the camper role and begin your journey toward being a camp counselor, join us for this three week leadership training program for girls entering grade 10 (and who are 15 yrs. old as of 7/5/21). During the first week, you will develop skills needed to mentor younger girls and understand their needs in a camp setting. The second week you will use your newly acquired skills under the guidance of camp counselors in the units. The third week you will learn what goes on behind the scenes that allows camp to run safely and efficiently. Upon completion of the program, you are encouraged to volunteer for one or more weeks during the remainder of the camp season (you can let us know during the program what weeks you would like to return to volunteer). Receive an exclusive CIT shirt to tie dye and at the end of the three week session, you will earn a certificate and your CIT and CIT II pin.

This week is all about adventure! You’ll learn about planning and packing for a camping trip and how to cook on a fire. A special guest will provide an in-depth, hands-on course on fire-building that will teach you how to select a good location, collect the right materials, and stay safe. If you stay for the optional overnight, you’ll get to try out your camping skills while you spend the night in a tent. And of course you’ll enjoy all the summer camp fun that Lake Rickabear has to offer- archery, zip line, arts and crafts, nature, daily swimming, friendship, and fun!

Spend a week training to be a robotics engineer! You’ll get to look at a challenge, learn skills, and build a robot. The engineering design process is not about perfection; it’s about analysis and innovation. This week at camp will have you working with others to put together your most creative solutions to some of today’s robotic challenges. You will take home a working robot as well as information on multiple technical fields and courses of study. And of course you’ll enjoy all the summer camp fun that Lake Rickabear has to offer- archery, zip line, arts and crafts, nature, daily swimming, friendship, and fun!
