Whether your girl is joining an existing troop or participating through another Girl Scout opportunity, begin by registering through your local Service Unit Recruitment Campaign.

Enter your ZIP code and expand the radius to 20 miles
Type 'recruitment' in the search field and look for the nearest Recruitment Campaign.
Select the number of girls you are registering and choose Add Details
Create or log in to your new MyGS account.
Complete registration and payment.
Important: Even though you'll see a screen labeled "Find Troops," you do not need to locate a specific troop to join Girl Scouts. Once registered into the Recruitment Campaign, we will connect your family with the best participation option available in your area.

The next Girl Scout membership year runs from October 1, 2026, to September 30, 2027. Annual membership dues are $80 for girl members and $30 for adult members. Additional local fees and discounts may apply. Financial assistance may be available (more information below). Girl Scout memberships must be renewed annually.

Donate $80 | Give the Gift of Girl Scouting

At the time of your membership renewal, make a donation of $80 or more (the cost of a membership for a Girl Scout), and give the gift of Girl Scouting to a girl who might otherwise not be able to participate in the Girl Scout Leadership Experience.

What is Girl Scouts?
Girl Scouts is more than an activity—it’s a Movement dedicated to building girls of courage, confidence, and character who make the world a better place.

Why do girls love being Girl Scouts?
Girl Scouts is a way of life that brings out the best in your girl, even in the most challenging of times. While they’re learning about STEM, the outdoors, entrepreneurship, and important life skills, Girl Scouts are also discovering new ways to make their family and community stronger, kinder, and better for everyone.

How does it work? What’s a “troop”?
Groups of Girl Scouts, called troops, typically meet weekly or every other week for an hour or two. Guided by adult volunteers, troop members choose the hands-on activities and projects that excite them, try new things, and cheer each other on. Together, they earn badges to reflect their successes and show the world what they’re made of.

What’s the goal?
Making sure girls are given the opportunity to reach their full potential by developing values and skills that will lead them to happier lives.  

When can I get started?
If your girl is ready to let her best self shine and start creating the world she wants to see, she’s ready to be a Girl Scout today. A Girl Scout membership $80 for girls and $30 for adults. A Girl Scout membership year starts on October 1 and lasts until September 30 of the following year, but you can get started early by joining or renewing your membership in April each year. Financial Assistance

Financial assistance is available for Girl Scout membership fees, uniform supplies, program activities, and summer camp for GSNNJ Members Only.

Financial Assistance Requests for Memberships are accepted year-round and can be applied for at the time of registration (during registration checkout, you will have the option to request financial assistance using the drop down menu). Financial Assistance Request for Program Activities

Girl Scouts of Northern New Jersey is committed to making sure more girls benefit from the Girl Scout Leadership Experience and offers household income-based sliding scale financial assistance for summer day camp. Financial Assistance may be granted for all camp programs. A committee of staff and volunteers will review requests and determine awards on a rolling basis starting February 1 and continuing through May 15. Funds are limited, so apply early.

How to apply for Financial Assistance for Summer Camp:

First enroll your camper(s) and pay your deposit(s), then simply fill out the Financial Assistance Form for Summer Camp requesting a Campership and submit it for review. A $50.00 deposit per camp session is required but can be refunded if sufficient financial assistance is not available.
