FIRST LEGO League Teams

Be a part of our FIRST LEGO League competition team and participate in an exciting global robotics program filled with discovery, science, and technology. We are looking for Girl Scouts to join our robotics competition teams (of 6-10 girls each). Teams meet at the Riverdale Service Center every Sunday (3:00-7:00 PM) during competition season (August through December).

Guided by team coaches and mentors, you and your FIRST LEGO League team will embark on an adventurous challenge focused on solving a real-world problem. Your team will complete an engineering design project, build and code a LEGO robot to complete various missions, and present your research and solution to a panel of judges. Through this program, you’ll earn your Girl Scout Cadette Programming Robots, Designing Robots, and Showcasing Robots badges

FIRST Tech Challenge Team | Steel Magnolias FTC 17009

Be a part of our FIRST Tech Challenge competition team. Learn to think like an engineer as you work with a team to design, build, and code a competitive robot using Java for Android technology. Our FIRST Tech Challenge team, Steel Magnolias FTC 17009, meets every Friday (6:00-9:00 PM) and Saturday (3:00-9:00 PM) at the Riverdale Community Center during the season (September through March), with outreach events throughout the year.

Competitions occur on weekends and may include Sundays. Some additional sessions will be added as competitions near; however, 100% attendance is NOT required.

We are seeking Girl Scouts interested in STEM-related positions that concentrate on designing, building, and programming. Experience is not necessary. There are more than 200 FIRST Tech Challenge Robotics teams in New Jersey and Steel Magnolias 17009 is a top contender.
