At Girl Scouts, girls prepare for a lifetime of leadership, success, and adventure in a safe, no-limits place designed for and by girls. We know, however, that some girls in underserved communities in northern New Jersey, where our membership is not as strong due to insufficient numbers of volunteers or funding, are the ones who might benefit most from Girl Scouting.
Our Girl Scouts Lead community engagement initiative supports those girls, allowing them to participate in the Girl Scout Leadership Experience—a collection of engaging, challenging, and fun activities such as earning badges, going on trips, selling cookies, exploring science, getting outdoors, and doing community service projects.
Research shows that girls who participate in Girl Scouts thrive in five key ways.
• Develop a strong sense of self
• Display positive values
• Seek challenges and learn from setbacks
• Form and maintains healthy relationships
• Learn to identify and solve problems in her community.
Our Girl Scouts Lead community engagement is generously supported by corporations, foundations, and other donors.
