At Lake Rickabear Camp in Kinnelon, New Jersey, our 332 acres include a beautiful 40-acre, spring-fed lake, perfect for pedal boating, paddle boarding, and row boating. A long stretch of soft, sandy beach lines our swimming area. Our camp also has an archery range, low ropes challenge course, zip line, equestrian center, pickleball courts, basketball, a junior scooter track, gaga pit, beach volleyball, and more.
Lake Rickabear's camping facilities include all-season lodges, yurts, platform tents, and pitch-your-own-tent campsites. A spacious pavilion, campfire amphitheater, and lakeside picnic grove provide lots of opportunity for outdoor fun.
Early Bird Registration for Summer Camp 2025 opens Friday, Nov. 1, 2024!
- Early Bird Discount: Register early for summer camp—between Nov. 1 and 15, 2024—and pay 2024 Summer Camp rates. Our Early Bird Discount is available to all new and returning registrants (cannot be combined with the Sibling Discount).
- Sibling Discount: Our Sibling Discount begins Nov. 16, 2024. Pay full price for your first camper's session (week) and get $25 off the price of each sibling's session (may not be combined with the Early Bird Discount).
- Troop Activity Night Offer: Register your Girl Scout Toop of 8 or more Girl Scouts for the same session (week), and enjoy a Troop Activity Night of Campfire Cooking and S'mores from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m. on the Friday of your session.

Cool off in the lake each day (weather permitting) during open swim time. Learn crazy camp songs, play field games, and get creative at Arts & Crafts. Explore our wooded property with our Nature Specialist. If you are entering Grade 2 or higher, you can try your hand at aiming for a bullseye at archery. Strengthen your self-esteem and practice teamwork at the Low Ropes Challenge Course. If you are entering Grade 4 or higher, you can ride the zip line, too. Other Lake Rickabear Summer Fun activities may include boating, playing GaGa ball (a form of dodgeball), building sandcastles, making S’mores, playing pickleball, hitting targets with slingshots, and more! Put on your naturalist’s hat and let’s go hiking to get to know the trees. We’ll explore one of our hiking trails and create a Ricka-tree Map while discovering nature and connecting with fellow campers. You’ll learn how to help our trees thrive as you complete a Take Action Project while at camp to earn your Girl Scout Trees Badge. Counselor in Training 1 (CIT II) (week 1 of 2) Gr 9-10, (Must be 14yrs. Old as of 6/30/25) Fee: $340 |
Begin your journey toward becoming a camp counselor! Girls entering Grades 9 and 10 (and who are age 14 as of 6/30/25) can register for this two-week leadership training program. During the first week, you’ll develop the skills needed to mentor younger girls and understand their needs in a camp setting. In the second week, you’ll use your newly acquired skills working with units under the guidance of camp counselors. Upon successful completion of this program, you’ll earn your CIT I pin and have the option to volunteer for one or more weeks during the remainder of the camp season. Plus, you’ll receive an exclusive CIT shirt to tie dye. If you are up for an extra adventure, you can pre-register for an optional overnight stay for CITs on Wednesday, July 9, for an additional $78. In the second week, you’ll use your newly acquired skills working with units under the guidance of camp counselors. While it's good to be a great athlete, the greatest athletes agree that it's just as important to be a good sport. During this session, you will play a variety of outdoor games as you earn your Girl Scout Good Sportsmanship Badge and discover skills that will help you have more fun on the field and off. We’ll explore all types of games from pickleball to three-legged races, and you’ll even get to create your own "Survivor-like" challenges. Begin your journey toward becoming a camp counselor! Girls entering Grades 9 and 10 (and who are age 14 as of 6/30/25) can register for this two-week leadership training program. During the first week, you’ll develop the skills needed to mentor younger girls and understand their needs in a camp setting. In the second week, you’ll use your newly acquired skills working with units under the guidance of camp counselors. Upon successful completion of this program, you’ll earn your CIT I pin and have the option to volunteer for one or more weeks during the remainder of the camp season. Plus, you’ll receive an exclusive CIT shirt to tie dye. During the first week, learn what goes on behind the scenes to enable a camp to run safely and efficiently. Focus on conflict management, leadership skills, unit planning, and more during this leadership development experience. In the second week, you’ll use your newly acquired skills working with units under the guidance of camp counselors. Upon successful completion of this program, you will earn your CIT II pin and have the option to volunteer for one or more weeks during the remainder of camp. Join us for a jam-packed week of exciting activities! Cool off in the lake each day (weather permitting) during American Red Cross swim lessons and open swim time. Learn crazy camp songs, play field games, and get creative at Arts & Crafts. Explore our wooded property with our Nature Specialist. If you are entering Grade 2 or higher, you can try your hand at aiming for a bullseye at archery. Strengthen your self-esteem and practice teamwork at the Low Ropes Challenge Course. If you are entering Grade 4 or higher, you can ride the zip line, too. Wednesday is Special Interest Day, a program where campers can pick their activity of choice. Other Lake Rickabear Summer Fun activities may include boating, playing GaGa ball (a form of dodgeball), building sandcastles, making S’mores, playing pickleball, hitting targets with slingshots, and more! Weekly theme activities make each session unique. Themes are announced on the first day of each session. End the week at Friday Fest, which will include a theme-based activity. Campers are grouped in units of 15-20 girls according to grade levels. Fun and new friendships await you at camp this summer. |

Giddy up! Hang out at the horse corral for 1 1/2 hours each day (weather permitting, Tuesday through Friday) learning basic horsemanship from trained professionals in a safe and nurturing environment. Lake Rickabear Camp in Kinnelon named one of America's Best Summer Camps 2024 by Newsweek
Exciting news! When Newsweek released its list of America’s 500 Best Summer Camps for 2024, our own Lake Rickabear Camp in Kinnelon was one of them.
Newsweek says, “choosing a summer camp requires aligning its offerings with the personality and interests of the camper, as well as the safety and financial concerns of the parent.” To help parents choose wisely, they published America's Best Summer Camps 2024 and based on their criteria, Lake Rickabear Camp received a rating of 4.5 out of 5 stars.
