At Lake Rickabear Camp in Kinnelon, New Jersey, our 332 acres include a beautiful 40-acre, spring-fed lake, perfect for pedal boating, paddle boarding, and row boating. A long stretch of soft, sandy beach lines our swimming area. Our camp also has an archery range, low ropes challenge course, zip line, equestrian center, pickleball courts, basketball, a junior scooter track, gaga pit, beach volleyball, and more.
Lake Rickabear's camping facilities include all-season lodges, yurts, platform tents, and pitch-your-own-tent campsites. A spacious pavilion, campfire amphitheater, and lakeside picnic grove provide lots of opportunity for outdoor fun.

Cool off in the lake each day (weather permitting) during open swim time. Learn crazy camp songs, play field games, and get creative at Arts & Crafts. Explore our wooded property with our Nature Specialist. If you are entering Grade 2 or higher, you can try your hand at aiming for a bullseye at archery. Strengthen your self-esteem and practice teamwork at the Low Ropes Challenge Course. If you are entering Grade 4 or higher, you can ride the zip line, too. Begin your journey toward becoming a camp counselor! Girls entering Grades 9 and 10 (and who are age 14 as of 6/30/25) can register for this two-week leadership training program. During the first week, you’ll develop the skills needed to mentor younger girls and understand their needs in a camp setting. In the second week, you’ll use your newly acquired skills working with units under the guidance of camp counselors. Upon successful completion of this program, you’ll earn your CIT I pin and have the option to volunteer for one or more weeks during the remainder of the camp season. Design your own wand, learn about the science of plants and potions in herbology class, learn about astrology, play a round of a magical game, and even make your own buttery beverage. Join us for a DIY artistic creation week at camp in this popular session! Bring your imagination and creativity and explore a variety of different artistic media. You’ll use different tools and materials to make different projects to take home with you. Earn your Comic Artist Badge. Counselor in Training I (CIT I) (week 1 of 2) Gr 9-10, (Must be 14yrs. Old as of 6/30/25) Fee: $340 |
Begin your journey toward becoming a camp counselor! Girls entering Grades 9 and 10 (and who are age 14 as of 6/30/25) can register for this two-week leadership training program. During the first week, you’ll develop the skills needed to mentor younger girls and understand their needs in a camp setting. In the second week, you’ll use your newly acquired skills working with units under the guidance of camp counselors. Upon successful completion of this program, you’ll earn your CIT I pin and have the option to volunteer for one or more weeks during the remainder of the camp season. Plus, you’ll receive an exclusive CIT shirt to tie dye. If you’ve already completed the Counselor in Training program, you can continue to build camp counselor skills during this two-week session. During the first week, learn what goes on behind the scenes to enable a camp to run safely and efficiently. Focus on conflict management, leadership skills, unit planning, and more during this leadership development experience. In the second week, you’ll use your newly acquired skills working with units under the guidance of camp counselors. Upon successful completion of this program, you will earn your CIT II pin and have the option to volunteer for one or more weeks during the remainder of camp. Plus, you'll receive an exclusive CIT shirt to tie dye. Lake Rickabear Summer Fun Session 7 Gr 1-9 Fee: $520 |
Join us for a jam-packed week of exciting activities! Cool off in the lake each day (weather permitting) during American Red Cross swim lessons and open swim time. Learn crazy camp songs, play field games, and get creative at Arts & Crafts. Explore our wooded property with our Nature Specialist. If you are entering Grade 2 or higher, you can try your hand at aiming for a bullseye at archery. Strengthen your self-esteem and practice teamwork at the Low Ropes Challenge Course. If you are entering Grade 4 or higher, you can ride the zip line, too. Wednesday is Special Interest Day, a program where campers can pick their activity of choice. Other Lake Rickabear Summer Fun activities may include boating, playing GaGa ball (a form of dodgeball), building sandcastles, making S’mores, playing pickleball, hitting targets with slingshots, and more! Weekly theme activities make each session unique. Themes are announced on the first day of each session. End the week at Friday Fest, which will include a theme-based activity. Campers are grouped in units of 15-20 girls according to grade levels. Fun and new friendships await you at camp this summer. |
Lake Rickabear Pony Pals Gr 1-3 Fee: $770 |
Giddy up! Hang out at the horse corral for 1 1/2 hours each day (weather permitting, Tuesday through Friday) learning basic horsemanship from trained professionals in a safe and nurturing environment. This hands-on program will teach you about grooming, leading, and basic care of your pony. Mount up for basic riding in the ring (weather permitting). Spend the remainder of each day participating in some of the Lake Rickabear Summer Fun session activities, including American Red Cross swim lessons and open swim time (weather permitting). Monday is a regular Lake Rickabear Summer Fun Day. |
Lake Rickabear Horsemanship Gr 4-8 Fee: $790 |
Discover and foster your love for horses at Lake Rickabear’s corral this summer. Spend 2 fun-filled hours a day (weather permitting, Tuesday through Friday), at the corral grooming, tacking, exploring barn management, and learning trail etiquette. Saddle up for a daily 20–30-minute riding session (weather permitting). Fill the remainder of each day participating in some of the Lake Rickabear Summer Fun session activities, including American Red Cross swim lessons and open swim time (weather permitting). Channel your inner fashionista! Learn basic stitches, make your own tote bag, design your own accessories, and more. Participate in a Fashion Show at the end of the week and walk the Ricka-runway at Friday Fest (optional)! Earn your Take Action Award Badge.
