Program on the Go

For troops and Service Units unable to participate in activities due to scheduling conflicts, our Program on the Go service is available. GSNNJ will bring some of our most popular program activities to your location.

Program on the Go explores Entrepreneurship, Fine Arts, Life Skills, Outdoors, and STEM, and includes fun and educational activities such as cake and cupcake decorating, sewing and crocheting, money and business skill building, constellation exploration, and more. 

To request one of our Program on the Go activities listed below, complete a Program on the Go Interest Form at least four weeks prior to your desired activity date. 

Entrepreneurship

Business Savvy
Girls explore how businesses work and develop an idea for their own business. 

  • Level: Girl Scout Juniors
  • Program Length: 2.5 hours
  • Total Length: 3.5 hours (includes set-up and clean-up, 30 minutes each)
  • Minimum: 12 girls
  • Maximum: 24 girls
  • Price: $18 per girl (additional travel fee may apply)

Money Manager
Girls discover the difference between material wants and needs, and decide how to use cookie proceeds to give back to the community. 

  • Level: Girl Scout Brownies
  • Program Length: 2 hours
  • Total Length: 3 hours (includes set-up and clean-up, 30 minutes each)
  • Minimum: 10 girls
  • Maximum: 20 girls
  • Price: $15 per girl (additional travel fee may apply)

Money Matters
Girls learn the difference between material wants and needs, and set goals to save for them.

  • Program Length: 1.25 hours
  • Total Length: 2.25 hours (includes set-up and clean-up, 30 minutes each)
  • Minimum: 10 girls
  • Maximum: 20 girls

Fine Arts

3-D Paper Snowflake (Virtual via ZOOM)
Make a large 3-D paper snowflake to decorate your house in a winter theme. Program fee includes a supply kit and online instructional video.

Moravian Star Ornament (Virtual via ZOOM) 
Make a folded paper Moravian star ornament to decorate your home or tree for the holidays. Program fee includes a supply kit and online instructional video. 

Life Skills

Cake Decorating and Cupcake Decorating
Girls work with bakery icing and learn piping techniques.

Option 1: Cake Decorating I FUNdamentals

  • Level: Girl Scout Brownies-Ambassadors
  • Program Length: 1.5 hours
  • Total Length: 2.5 hours (includes set-up and clean-up, 30 minutes each)
  • Minimum: 10 girls & adults
  • Maximum: 30 girls & adults
  • Price: $36 per person
  • Each participant receives instruction and decorates a 5" vanilla cake to take home. A take home kit is included, which consists of a decorating bag, four tips, a coupler, a practice board, information sheet, and spatula. 

Option 2: Cake Decorating II & Ill

  • Level: Girl Scout Brownies-Ambassadors
  • Program Length: 2.5 hours
  • Total Length: 3.5 hours (includes se-up and clean-up, 30 minutes each)
  • Minimum: 10 girls & adults
  • Maximum: 20 girls & adults
  • Price: $58 per person
  • Each participant receives instruction and decorates a 5" vanilla cake to take home. A take home kit is included, which consists of a decorating bag, ten tips, a coupler, a practice board, information sheet, and spatula.
  • Note:This is a combination of Cake Decorating II & III. Cake Decorating I is a pre-requisite. 

Option 1: Cupcake Decorating

  • Level: Girl Scout Brownies-Ambassadors
  • Program Length: 1 hour
  • Total Length: 2 hours (includes set-up and clean-up, 30 minutes each)
  • Minimum: 10 girls & adults
  • Maximum: 25 girls & adults
  • Price: $24 per person
  • Each participant will work with decorating tips to decorate four cupcakes in a specific theme. Decorating tools and materials are provided for use.
  • Note: Take home kit NOT included. 

Option 2: Cupcake Decorating (Spring 2021)

  • Level: Girl Scout Cadettes-Ambassadors
  • Program Length: 2 hours
  • Total Length: 3 hours (includes set-up and clean-up, 30 minutes each)
  • Minimum: 6 girls & adults
  • Maximum: 12 girls & adults
  • Price: $40 per person
  • Each participant works with fondant, which she will color and use to create and decorate six themed cupcakes. All necessary tools and materials are provided for use.
  • Note: Take home kit NOT included. 

Cake Pops
Girls will decorate cake pops in a seasonal theme and take their creations home.

  • Level: Girl Scout Daisies
  • Program Length: 1 hour
  • Total Length: 2 hours (includes set-up and clean-up, 30 minutes each)
  • Minimum: 10 girls & adults
  • Maximum: 16 girls & adults
  • Price: $20 per person
  • Each participant will receive five cake pops that are pre-dipped in colors. Participants will decorate cake pops in a seasonal theme to take home.

Crochet 101 (Spring 2021)
Using only a crochet hook and yarn, girls will learn the basic stitches to create a headband or flower.

  • Level: Girl Scout Juniors-Cadettes
  • Program Length: 3 hours
  • Total Length: 4.5 hours (includes 1 hour for set-up and 30 minutes for clean-up)
  • Minimum: 10 girls & adults
  • Maximum: 20 girls & adults
  • Price: $30 per participant
  • Adults have the option to pay and make a crocheted headband along with the girls.

Gingerbread House Construction 101 (in-person, Fall 2021. Until then, consider similar LINK Program virtual activities available.)
Using gingerbread, royal icing, and nut-free candy, girls will learn gingerbread house design.

  • Level: Girl Scout Brownies-Ambassadors
  • Program Length: 2.5 hours
  • Total Length 4 hours (includes 1 hour for set-up and 30 minutes for clean-up)
  • Minimum: 10 girls & adults
  • Maximum: 24 girls & adults
  • Price: $30 per participant
  • The house is approximately 4" wide x 5" long x 5" high on a 10" x 10" base. Choose between a log cabin or Victorian-style house. Enjoy a tasty gingerbread cookie snack along the way. Bring a box at least 10" x 10" to carry home your gingerbread house. Program fee includes all supplies and snack.

Jewelry 101 (Spring 2021)
Girls will learn to use jewelry pliers to transform wire, glass, metal, and shell beads into beaded earrings.

  • Level: Girl Scout Juniors-Ambassadors

  • Total Length: 4 hours (includes 1 hour for set-up and 30 minutes for clean-up)
  • Minimum: 10 girls & adults
  • Maximum: 20 girls & adults
  • Price: $38 per participant
  • Taught by a trained artist who studied jewelry design at Pratt Institute and the School of Visual Arts in New York City. 
  • All supplies will be provided.

Sew Petite
In this introductory, hands-on class for Girl Scout Daisies, girls will create a fun, easy to sew project using a computerized sewing machine.

  • Level: Girl Scout Daisies

  • Total Length: 2 hours (includes set-up and clean-up, 30 minutes each)
  • Minimum: 16 girls & adults (Currently 10 girls & adults due to COVID-19)

Sewing I
Girls will learn to use computerized sewing machines, pin fabric, and learn the language of sewing.

  • Level: Girl Scout Brownies-Ambassadors

Sewing II
Girls will learn about style, body measurements, and the basics of garment construction to make an elastic waistband skirt or halter top.

Outdoors

Archery (for Girl Scout Brownies-Ambassadors)
Have fun learning about archery equipment, safety, and shooting on an archery range during this 2-hour program, which must be held at either our Jockey Hollow or Lake Rickabear camp. Archery can be scheduled between mid-April through mid-November. Activities must be reserved at least 30 days prior to desired date. Adults may register to participate. Please email camping@gsnnj.org with questions or to schedule. 

Plein Air Watercolor (Spring 2021)
Girls discover architecture and native plants and trees as they sketch and paint outdoors, or "en plein air."

  • Level: Girl Scout Brownies-Ambassadors
  • Program Length: 2 hours
  • Total Length: 3.5 hours (includes 1 hour for set-up and 30 minutes for clean-up)
  • Minimum: 10 girls & adults
  • Maximum: 15 girls & adults
  • Price: $32 per participant
  • Note: This program must take place in an outdoor space.
STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math)

Star Lab (Spring 2021)
GSNNJ brings the stars down to Earth, where girls will study the constellations and other wonders of the night sky.

  • Level: Girl Scout Daisies-Ambassadors
  • Program Length: 45-60 minutes presentations
    Total Length: 2-2.15 hours (includes 45 minutes for set-up and 30 minutes for clean-up)
  • Minimum: 2 back-to-back presentations
  • Maximum: 5 presentations in one day
  • Price: $200 for first two presentations; $75 for each additional presentation
  • Note: The Star Lab can hold up to 25 people. Star Lab presentations are appropriate for all ages, however, we prefer to group presentations by age level. A space of at least 25 feet by 25 feet with at least 12 foot high ceilings is needed. The Star Lab cannot be set up outside. A single AC electrical outlet must be available.
