Girl Scout Week is a time when we shout our Girl Scout spirit from the rooftops and honor the Girl Scout Movement. The week includes Girl Scouts’ Birthday on March 12, which commemorates the day in 1912 when Juliette Gordon Low officially registered the organization's first 18 members in Savannah, Georgia.
Let's celebrate Girl Scout Week and the 113th Birthday of the Girl Scout Movement. For 113 years, Girl Scouts have found a way to dream big and do good. You create the world you want to live in and strive to make it better every single day. You explore your strengths, take on new challenges, and can always be yourself.
Supported by adult volunteers and mentors right here in our community, as well as millions of alums around the globe, Girl Scouts lead the way as you discover who you are and how you can make the future a brighter place.
Here are some suggested activities that will help you celebrate every day this week.
Sunday, March 9
Spirit Sunday: Do something kind in the
spirit of Girl Scouting.
Kindness Rocks: Paint
kindness rocks and leave them at playgrounds, parks, or campgrounds.
Reflect on the values of faith and leadership. The My Promise My Faith Pin can be earned annually through experiencing a faith journey.
Tuesday, March 11
Troop Tuesday: Appreciate your
awesome troop besties.
Share your favorite Girl Scout memories with the members of your
troop and share a new or old group photo (with everyone's
permission) on social media (tag Girl Scouts of Northern New
Jersey @gsnnj). Some photo ideas include: past Girl Scout Cookie
Program Booth Sales, troop meetings, trips and excursions, or journey
activities.
Wednesday, March 12
National Girl Scout Day!
Wear and post a photo of yourself in your Girl Scout uniform and tag @girlscouts and @gsnnj.
In honor of Women's History Month, learn about the American Women’s Quarters program and the women being featured, including Maya Angelou, Dr. Sally Ride, Wilma Mankiller, Anna May Wong, Eleanor Roosevelt, and Celia Cruz. Take our trivia challenge and answer questions about Juliette Gordon Low and other notable women in history.
