The leadership lessons gained in Girl Scouts help our members take on new challenges, find creative solutions, adapt, and make a difference in their communities and the world. Throughout the pandemic, our Girl Scouts led several community initiatives to show support of healthcare heroes and frontline and essential workers with the mission of spreading positivity and hope.
Girl Scout troops pitched in to lend support by sewing masks and mask-relief headbands for healthcare staff and collecting donations of PPE equipment such as face shields and gloves for local hospitals. Their efforts often were recognized by the local media and even mentioned by Gov. Phil Murphy during his daily telecast updates.
Trefoil Thoughts—notes of gratitude and encouragement—were sent to healthcare heroes, essential workers, first responders, and nursing homes to show concern and appreciation during these difficult times. These handwritten notes provided uplifting messages of gratitude and support. In addition, girls created and displayed outdoor signs along hospital routes to encourage workers after their shifts, and sent creative videos to nursing home residents to cheer them.
Girl Scouts used their creative talents to lift the spirits of
  their communities, too, with encouraging
artwork displayed at their homes and across social media. Images
of rainbows surrounded by messages that “Everything will
be OK” and “We’re all in this together!” hung
from windows across our cities and towns serving as a small, but
powerful reminder to remain hopeful and that after every storm there
  is a rainbow.
