We need five (5) Adult Girl Scout Volunteers to participate in a free one-day pilot program for our Hiking and Backpacking Adult Training on Saturday, June 28, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Jockey Hollow Camp in Mendham (you must arrive by 8:45 a.m.). This program, which will officially launch in fall 2025, has been designed for adult Girl Scout leaders and volunteers of all levels, will include hands-on training conducted in an outdoor setting, and will be facilitated by experienced hiking and backpacking leaders. Topics will include Map Reading, Logistics, Trails, Safety, Proper Clothing and Footwear, Food and Nutrition, Equipment (packs, tents, stoves, water filters, sleeping gear, hydration, and knives), and Leading Girl Scouts on a Hike. This session will include a short hike. Registration is required, but there is no cost to participate in the pilot program on June 28, 2025 (Rain Date: July 19). Bring a bagged lunch and water bottle. Dress for the weather and wear appropriate footwear for a short hike (sturdy sneakers are acceptable).
