Girl Scouts of Northern New Jersey is committed to making sure more girls benefit from the Girl Scout Leadership Experience and offers household income-based sliding scale financial assistance for summer day camp.

Financial Assistance for Summer Camp Application

Financial Assistance may be granted for all camp programs, except for equestrian programs. A committee of staff and volunteers will review requests and determine awards on a rolling basis. Funds are limited, so apply early.

Does my camper need to be a Girl Scout to attend camp? toggle arrow

All campers are welcome to attend summer camp at our camps. If my camper(s) is not a current member of Girl Scouts, I understand that by enrolling in this summer camp program and paying the one-time 2026 registration fee, I am allowing my camper(s) to become a member of Girl Scouts for the current Girl Scout year and that membership will end as of September 30, 2026.

Why Girl Scout Camp? At Girl Scout camp, girls feel comfortable acquiring new skills in a safe and supportive all-girl environment. From a relaxed swim to teaming up on a project, our camps offer girls a variety of opportunities to learn, grow, and build courage, confidence, and character.

CONFIDENCE: For many girls, camp has unlimited potential to unlock or boost a girl’s confidence. Girls have the opportunity to try new things and test their limits.

CHARACTER: Camp is a safe place for girls to learn individual responsibility and work as part of a team.

SISTERHOOD: Girls will explore nature, build confidence by trying new things, and take healthy risks with the support of a sisterhood of fellow campers and strong female role models.

BADGE EARNING: Girls will have the opportunity to earn Girl Scout badges in horsemanship, camping, leadership, and more. By wearing their badges proudly on their uniform all year long, they can remember their accomplishments and special moments from camp.

OUTDOOR ADVENTURES: In our technology-free setting, girls embark on a summer that unlocks their potential and allows them to thrive physically, emotionally, and intellectually. And this summer, girls will need that more than ever.

What if my preferred camp session is full? toggle arrow

Some camp sessions are very popular and fill up fast. If a particular camp session is full, the option to place your camper on the wait list will appear. We will contact you if a space opens up prior to the camp date.

A return call to the office must be made within one business day to keep your camper’s space in the session. If you would like to register your camper for the full summer (all seven sessions) but one session is full, please email or call Customer Care for assistance; customer care@gsnnj.org or (973) 248-8200.

Can my camper be in the same unit as her friend? toggle arrow

Campers like to make new friends at camp. But we also know that some campers want to be with a particular friend, so we will try to accommodate a request to be placed with a buddy in the same unit. If we are able to accommodate your request, we will still encourage her to make new friends within her unit. At times, we will pair her up with someone new during games, buddy lines, and other activities at camp. Campers wishing to be buddies must be in the same program during the same session and cannot be more than one grade apart. Only one buddy can be requested, and it must be reciprocal on the buddy’s registration.

At Jockey Hollow and Lake Rickabear Day Camp, the preference is for campers to be part of the same Girl Scout level (Daisy, Brownie, Junior, etc.). If the campers are not part of the same Girl Scout level, the older camper will be moved down one level to be with her younger buddy.

Do you offer a lunch program at camp? toggle arrow

An optional lunch program is provided by Simply Gourmet, an independent food service company. Simply Gourmet offers hot or cold “kid-friendly,” nutritious, nut-free meals delivered daily and individually packaged with the camper’s name. Participate by going to www.simplygourmetlunches.com. Menus and pricing for both July and August will be available for ordering by the middle of June 2025.

I received my registration confirmation, but nothing else. What do I need to know before camp begins? toggle arrow

Most of the information needed can be found in the Parent/Guardian Guide . You will receive an email one week prior to the start of the session with all relevant session information, such as information about transportation, packing lists and more.

What will my camper be given to remember her camp experience? toggle arrow

Each session, your camper's unit photo will be posted on Camp Today. Camp Today is only accessible to camp families through the Parent/Guardian Dashboard.

Campers will also receive a free t-shirt the first session that they attend summer camp. Our Trading Post (camp store) will be open to purchase additional camp memorabilia such as clothing, key chains, jewelry, and stuffed animals. Each unit will have one assigned time during the week to visit the Trading Post. Your camper is welcome to visit on other days, too, as her unit’s schedule allows.
