Bring your family, friends, and fellow Girl Scouts to celebrate Martin Luther King, Jr. Day at the Coretta Scott King Classic at Prudential Center in Newark on Monday, Jan. 19, 2026. Following the success of its inaugural showcase, the Coretta Scott King Classic returns for its second year to highlight women's college basketball while honoring the legacy and values of Coretta Scott King and the King family. This year's doubleheader will feature a new roster of elite women's college basketball programs:
- 10:00am: arrival and line-up for entry - M&M Tower, 25 Lafayette Street
- 11:00 - 11:45am: Pre- Game Girl Scout Experiences
- Women in Sports Panel
- Greetings from Sandra Kenoff, GSNNJ President & CEO
- 12:00pm: Game 1 TCU vs. Ohio State
- 2:30pm: Game 2 Vanderbilt vs. Michigan
- 4:30pm: Group photo on the court
- Our group is sitting in Section 4, Rows 14-20. We will distribute tickets at Prudential Center upon admission.
The Coretta Scott King Classic is not just a basketball event-it is a movement that celebrates leadership, equality, education, and empowerment through sport. The day will include community activations, youth engagement programming, and more, reflecting the enduring legacy of Mrs. King. In addition, Girl Scouts will participate in exclusive behind-the-scenes event opportunities and hear from inspiring women leaders in sports careers. This is a family event - parents/guardians must register and attend with their Girl Scouts. Do not contact Prudential Center directly for tickets or event information.
