Girl Scout Daisies-Ambassadors & Adults: Bring
your family, friends, and fellow Girl Scouts to celebrate Martin
Luther King, Jr. Day at the Coretta Scott King Classic:
Women's Basketball Doubleheader at Prudential Center in
Newark (Jan. 19). This nationally televised doubleheader will
feature elite women's college basketball programs (Game 1 at 12:00 PM:
Texas Christian University vs. Ohio State University and Game 2 at
2:30 PM: Vanderbilt University vs. University of Michigan), while
honoring the legacy and values of Coretta Scott King and the King
family.
The first 100 Girl Scouts to register will receive a FREE
Event T-shirt sponsored by Sephora (distributed at the
event) and will be featured in their T-shirt and Girl Scout uniform on
the Jumbotron. All registered Girl Scouts will also have the
opportunity to hear from and ask questions of inspiring women
leaders in sports careers in an exclusive pre-game panel
presentation moderated by a woman sports executive. The
panel will consist of Katherine Cain (former professional/collegiate
basketball player), Gabrielle Gjelaj (Account Executive in Partnership
Development at Playfly, former collegiate lacrosse player), and Jenna
Lemoncelli (In-Arena Host for the New Jersey Devils). Plus, join in
our group photo opportunity in center court after the 2nd game.
Our seats are in Section 4 (Rows 14-20). Come watch one or both

Celebrate MLK Day at the Coretta Scott King Classic
- 10:30am: arrival and line-up for entry - M&M Tower, 25
Lafayette Street. We will distribute tickets at Prudential Center
upon admission.
- 11:00 am - 11:45am: Pre- Game Girl Scout
Experience
- 12:00pm: Game 1 TCU vs. Ohio State
- 2:30pm: Game 2
Vanderbilt vs. Michigan
- 4:30pm: Group photo on the
court
- Our group is sitting in Section 4, Rows 14-20.
- This is a family event - parents/guardians must register and
attend with their Girl Scouts.
- Do not contact Prudential
Center directly for tickets or event information. Ticket purchase is
required through GSNNJ.
- This year we are partnering with
Soles4Souls for a shoe drive as a service component for the day. We
will be collecting gently used shoes (all types and sizes, including
cleats - but no ice skates or roller skates/blades please) that can
be dropped off in collection boxes located at our Paramus and
Riverdale shops as well as at any DSW store and at the Prudential
Center at the culmination of our collection on January 19,
2026.
Collecting and donating shoes is easy:
1. Collect gently used shoes from your friends and family
2.
Bring the shoes to one of the drop-off locations
3.
Self-report the number of shoes you have collected using this form:

All
participating Girl Scouts will receive a S4S fun patch and those who
collect 25 pairs of shoes or more will receive a letter from S4S
that they have completed service hours with the organization (1
service hour for every 25 pairs of shoes collected).
