Shanna Jafri, Board Chair
Shanna Jafri is a passionate advocate for women and girls.
Shanna has served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Girl Scouts of Northern New Jersey since 2016, serving in the role of First Vice Chair for the past five years. She is currently serving as a Council Delegate and represented GSNNJ at the National Council Sessions in 2023 and 2020. She has served as a member of the Board Development Committee; the Chair of the 2021 CEO Search Committee; the Chair of the 2019 Women of Achievement Gala; the Fund Development Committee; the HR Task Force; and the Bylaws Committee. She is a Lifetime Member of the Girl Scouts, a member of the Juliette Gordon Low Society and a member of the Circle of Friends Giving Society. Before joining the Board of Directors, she served as a volunteer Troop Leader for Troop 95807 in Bergen County, New Jersey. As a girl she participated in Girl Scouts as a Brownie and Junior in Troop 424 in Wheat Ridge, Colorado, which was part of the Mile High Council.
Shanna holds a Juris Doctor from DePaul University College of Law and received her Bachelor's Degree in Economics from the University of Colorado at Boulder. She is experienced in corporate and public interest law. She was an Associate Attorney at Johnson & Bell in Chicago, Illinois, before becoming an Assistant State’s Attorney for the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office in Chicago.
