Josephine Hernandez joined Passaic County Community College in 2000 as the vice president for enrollment management and became the vice president of the Passaic Academic Center in 2008 when the College created its newest branch campus.
Prior to coming to Passaic County Community College, she was the dean of enrollment at SUNY Rockland Community College in Suffern, New York and the director of admissions and registration for Bergen Community College in Paramus, New Jersey.
Josephine earned her bachelor’s degree in English from Inter American University in
San Juan, Puerto Rico and her master’s degree in liberal studies from Rutgers – the State University of New Jersey.
In 2004, she was appointed by Governor McGreevy to the New Jersey State Board of Education and served as its president for two years. Josephine has also held positions of leadership at organizations related to her profession, and was also the vice president for fund development for the board of directors of the YWCA of Eastern Union County. She is also a recent past member of the board of directors of NJ Women's Network, a professional organization of women in higher education.
Josephine was a delegate for Girl Scouts of Northern New Jersey to the 2011 and 2014 Girl
Scouts of the USA National Council Session. She is also a member of the GSNNJ Fund Development Committee and a member of the Board of Directors.
