Josephine Hernandez joined Passaic County Community College in 2000 as the vice president for enrollment management and then became the vice president of the Passaic Academic Center in 2008 when the College created its newest branch campus.
Prior to coming to Passaic County Community College, she was the dean of enrollment at SUNY Rockland Community College in Suffern, New York and the director of admissions and registration for Bergen Community College in Paramus, New Jersey.
Hernandez earned her bachelor’s degree in English from Inter American University in
San Juan, Puerto Rico and her master’s degree in liberal studies from Rutgers – the State University of New Jersey.
She was a member of the New Jersey State Board of Education and served as its
president for two years. Ms. Hernandez has also held positions of leadership at organizations related to her profession, and had been a member of the United Way Allocations Committee in Rockland, New York. More recently, she was appointed by the Mayor of Passaic to serve as a member of the board of trustees of the Passaic Public Library and she is also a member of the board of directors of NJ ACE Women’s Network, a professional organization of women in higher education.
Josephine was a delegate for Girl Scouts of Northern New Jersey to the 2011 Girl
Scouts of the USA National Council Session. She is also a member of the GSNNJ Fund Development Committee and a member of the Board of Directors.
