Betty A. Garger
President & Chief Executive Officer, Girl Scouts of Northern New Jersey

Betty Garger is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Girl Scouts of Northern New Jersey. Ms. Garger has been a long-time employee of Girl Scouts, and prior to her role as CEO, she was GSNNJ's Chief Operating Officer, a position she held for five years.

Before the formation of Girl Scouts of Northern New Jersey in 2007, Ms. Garger was the CEO of Girl Scouts: Lenni Lenape Council, Inc. A past president of the Paterson Rotary Club, she has been a member of the Rotary for eight years, during which she also served as President-elect, Vice President, and Secretary of the club.

Ms. Garger is a member of Leadership Morris, Bergen Leads, and the Sussex County Chamber of Commerce, and has worked for Girl Scouts for more than 30 years, holding leadership positions in communications, fund development, product sales, and membership recruitment. She is a graduate of Rowan University and a resident of Sparta.

During a recent NJBIZ Conversation, GSNNJ CEO Betty Garger explains how Girl Scouts encourages girls from a young age to pursue careers or academic programs in STEM subjects and provides girls with unique opportunities through Girl Scout programming. “We really are working for girls, especially in the younger ages, to let them know that not only should they learn about STEM because it’s what fuels us, but it’s also important because women are not in those roles,” she said.
